Welcome Week at College Ten!

Welcome Week begins with Frosh Move-In on Thursday, September 16th and Friday, September 17th. There are a number of interesting, fun, and required events, videos and presentations starting as soon as move-in is over and running through the First Day of Classes on Thursday, September 23rd.

We'll be adding all of our Welcome Week events to our Events Calendar, which you can view at the bottom of this page! (You can also subscribe to our Events Calendar by clicking here).


New students will have a customized set of Welcome Week programs shared to their UCSC email's Google Calendar, so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks!

Slugs CARE & Title IX Presentation

This interactive, three-part presentation promotes community standards and highlights resources available to support students’ well-being and success. CARE, SHOP, and the Title IX office will empower students to have fun and safe social experiences, actively prevent sex and gender based discrimination (including sexual and relationship violence), and know their rights and options on campus.
- CARE provides confidential advocacy, support, and prevention education on these issues; visit care.ucsc.edu (Links to an external site.) to learn more.
- SHOP takes a harm reduction approach to alcohol and other drugs and sexual health; visit shop.ucsc.edu (Links to an external site.) to learn more.

Students will receive the Slugs CARE & Title IX Presentation Webinar Registration and Login information sent to their UCSC email.

    • This email contains a unique link to access one of the Webinar sessions listed below. 
    • The invitations will be sent based on your college but it is okay to attend a different session if need be. 
    • The registration email subject is Slugs CARE and Title IX Presentation Confirmation and will come from UC Santa Cruz Special Events in early September, a week before the session, and one hour before the session.
    • Please plan to log on 10 minutes in advance of the scheduled start time. 
    • Note that you must use your UCSC email address to register and log in. Attendance is mandatory and will be automatically recorded when you log in using your student email.

What if a student doesn't attend any of the Slugs CARE & Title IX Webinar Sessions?
A make up option will be available via Canvas (Links to an external site.) (F21 SLUGS CARE and Title IX Course) for students who are unable to attend the live webinars listed above after October 7, 2021. 

    • You do not need to request the make up or let us know if you did miss. You will receive an email to complete the make up.

Alternative Training Option
For students who anticipate difficulty with the training content due to a prior experience of sexual or relationship violence, an alternative training option is available by emailing the confidential CARE office at care@ucsc.edu. Please include the name of the training that you were assigned, your student ID number, and UCSC email address in your request.

For advising, the mandatory component of Welcome Week has been uploaded into your College Advising Canvas course. Please accept the invite to the Canvas course and watch the four videos on or prior to September 20th. When you’ve completed the acknowledgment assignment in Canvas, you have fulfilled the mandatory advising part of Welcome Week!
College advising will be available to answer any lingering questions you may have on September 20th. There will be tables between the quads of the dorms. While your presence is not required at the tabling event, it is encouraged that you stop by and say hi!

Welcome to the most ecologically diverse campus in the world! Our campus is so rich in life that we have a 410-acre natural reserve that is used for education, research and stewardship. Join UCSC Campus Natural Reserve staff on a hike as you get to know each other and some of the local flora and fauna in your incredible new backyard. This is also a great time to find out about internship opportunities and other ways to get involved with learning about nature at UCSC.
