College Ten Frosh Welcome Dinner

Saturday, September 22nd
Times vary by ResHall and Floor:

5:45pm to 6:40pm: Ohlone Floor 1, Ohlone Floor 3, Angela Davis Floor 4
6:05pm to 7:00pm: Ohlone Floor 2, Angela Davis Floor 1, Angela Davis Floor 2, Angela Davis Floor 3

The Social Sciences Lawn followed by The Dining Hall and Multipurpose Room at Colleges Nine and Ten

THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR ON-CAMPUS FROSH LIVING AT COLLEGE TEN
Meet your College Guide (CG) and Resident Assistant (RA) in front of your ResHall. Look for your building floor sign. Your CG will lead your group to the Social Sciences Lawn and later to the Dining Hall for the Welcome Dinner. 
Bring your ID card for meal access. 

 

College Ten Community Mixer

Saturday, September 22nd

THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR ON-CAMPUS FROSH LIVING AT COLLEGE TEN
Residents of College Ten will gather in the quad area to participate in some ice breakers/ mingling before heading to their first floor meetings. 

 

College Ten Floor Meetings

THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR ON-CAMPUS FROSH LIVING AT COLLEGE TEN
Meet your College Nine RA. College Nine RA's will all hold their floor meetings, do introductions and update the students on community guidelines/ resources.

 

Analytical Writing Placement Exam

Sunday, September 23rd
10:00am to 1:00pm
Jack Baskin Auditorium 152

THIS EXAM IS REQUIRED OF ALL ENTERING FROSH WHO DID NOT TAKE THE MAY AWPE AND DID NOT SATISFY ELWR VIA OTHER MEANS.
Students should pre-pay for the exam at 
https://www.awpe.org/candidate/. If they qualify for reduced/no fees, the web site will make this clear when they log on. 

Students who took the universitywide AWPE in May or who took the test during Global Start, may not retake the exam. 

There is a fee for this exam, which students are expected to pay in advance via this web site: https://www.awpe.org/. Be sure to print out the receipt for your payment and to bring it with you to the exam. 

What to bring: 
- Copy of your receipt or fee waiver (print copy at https://www.awpe.org
- Photo ID 
- At least 2 dark ink pens (blue or black) 

*Any student with Disability Resource Center approved exam accommodations, regardless of college affiliation: Oakes Rooms 101/102/103

College Ten Orientation and Club Fair

Monday, September 24th
10:00am to 12:00pm

THIS IS A MANDATORY EVENT FOR ALL COLLEGE TEN FROSH.
Meet with your floor RA at 10:00am to walk over to a College Orientation and Club Fair. Learn about how to get involved with your college and find community. 

 

Slugs CARE & Title IX for Students

Monday, September 24th

Slugs CARE

Slugs CARE is a skit-based presentation designed to empower incoming UCSC students to be active in the prevention of sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking in their community. Students will learn about affirmative consent, the spectrum of sexual violence, the dynamics of dating abuse, and bystander intervention. Slugs CARE is hosted by CARE (Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education) which provides confidential advocacy and support to individuals impacted by these issues. 



Title IX for Students
Title IX is part of the Civil Rights Act and prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex; including gender discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Understand your rights and obligations, and campus policies and resources aimed at preventing and addressing these critical problems you may face.

Apartment Building Meetings

Meet you Resident Assisant and neighbors to learn about community guidelines, expectations, and resources for the apartment community. 

 

Transfer Advising for Colleges Nine and Ten

Tuesday, September 25th
12:30pm to 2:00pm
The Multipurpose Room at Colleges Nine and Ten

THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS, ON CAMPUS AND OFF.
If you live in the Porter Transfer Community, meet up with the College Nine College Guides in the Porter Quad to be led to the Colleges Nine and Ten Multipurpose Room.
If you do not live in the Porter Transfer Community, you can come directly to the Multipurpose Room for this REQUIRED College Advising program which will begin at 12:45 PM. You will learn more about College Nine and the college system. Find out what it really means to be an affiliate of College Nine! We will help you understand the resources and opportunities to get involved available to you here.
