Move-in Update

New students at College Ten move in on Friday, September 18, 2009. All students will receive a Housing Packet BY MAIL THAT CONTAINS specific information about move-in time, room information, AND ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS in mid August.

Please Note:

We recently learned that we will have new laundry machines that will use a card vs. quarters so stay tuned as we learn more about that program.

Fall Orientation Update

Fall Orientation will begin on Friday, September 18 and go through Wednesday, September 23. Students will have the opportunity to meet other students, familiarize themselves with the campus, attend important sessions on Financial Aid and Academic Advising as well as have tons of fun during planned community building activities. For more information on Fall Orientation, stay tuned! The complete schedule will be posted here in early September.

We regret that Move-In Weekend, the dates of which are determined by the UCSC Academic Calendar, conflicts this year with two major religious holidays. Both Rosh Hashanah and the end of Ramadan (Eid ul-Fitr) take place on this weekend. UCSC has worked hard to mitigate the impact of this conflict through flexible arrangements for move-in, special meal options through Dining Services, and changes to our Orientation schedule. If you need any assistance, or wish to discuss arrangements regarding this, please contact either Sara Jakl sjakl@ucsc.edu (for issues related housing or move-in), or Leticia Maldonado at lmaldona@ucsc.edu for non-housing concerns.

Students and their families are welcome to join Santa Cruz Hillel for Erev Rosh Hashanah services and a catered kosher dinner on Friday, September 18, and for Rosh Hashanah services on Saturday, September 19. Rabbi Yitzhak Miller will lead blended Conservative/Reform services. Erev Rosh Hashanah services will begin promptly at 6:00pm on Friday in the Stevenson Fireside Lounge. Dinner for students and their families will begin at 7:30 in the Cowell Fireside Lounge. Rosh Hashanah day-time services will begin at 9:30 the following morning in the Stevenson Fireside Lounge. Services are free and there is no reservation required. Rosh Hashanah dinner is $10 per person. To RSVP for the dinner, please e-mail Hillel Program Director, Heather Paul, at heather@santacruzhillel.org.
